His background includes many years in leadership and operational roles across the military, construction and overseas security environments. This has given him extensive experience in managing responsibility, working under pressure and making sound decisions in complex situations.
Part of that career included working in highly challenging environments on MOD-related projects, which further developed his resilience, adaptability and calm approach to leadership.
As a Chartered Construction Manager, Killian brings professionalism, structure and accountability to the organisation. His broad experience has helped shape Nurtura Recruitment’s relationship-led approach, with a focus on trust, consistency and delivering reliable support to care providers.
Killian is passionate about helping organisations find the right people to create safe, stable and well-supported environments for children and young people.
Jordan Cockburn
Director of Operations
Jordan Cockburn is a dedicated member of the Nurtura Team, supporting vulnerable children and young people. Inspired from an early age by his mother’s work as a social worker, Jordan developed a strong understanding of the challenges faced by children and families within the care system, along with a deep commitment to making a positive difference.

After a 12-year career in the construction industry, Jordan transitioned into the care sector to pursue more meaningful work. He now helps lead the delivery of skilled childcare and support services for young people with complex needs, with a focus on providing stability, guidance, and opportunities for positive change.
Jordan is passionate about creating safe, supportive environments where children can build trust, develop confidence, and move towards brighter futures.
Through his leadership, Jordan is committed to delivering high-quality services that not only meet professional standards but also create lasting, positive change in the lives of the children, young people, and families the organisation supports.
Joshua Cockburn
Director of Business
Joshua is 23 and brings a unique blend of practical skill, business focus, and technical knowledge to his role at Nurtura. As Business and Finance Lead, he plays an important part in supporting the organisation’s financial processes, business operations, and the technology needed to maintain a safe and reliable platform for the work we do.

A qualified carpenter with a strong passion for technology and innovation, Joshua offers a grounded, solutions-focused approach and is known for building strong relationships with others through his warmth, humour, and approachable nature.
Joshua is proud to be part of a family-run business and has grown up with a deep understanding of the importance of supporting vulnerable children, having spent his life seeing both his mum and sister work in this field. He is passionate about using his skills to support Nurtura’s mission and values the opportunity to contribute to work that makes a meaningful difference in improving the lives of children and young people.
Martine
Creative Consultant
Martine began her social work career in 2006, working directly with children and families at every stage of their journey — from first contact with services to achieving permanence. These frontline experiences shaped her belief that the most powerful interventions are those rooted in trust, respect, and genuine human connection.

In 2019, Martine moved into senior leadership, taking on roles as Service Manager and later Head of Service for Targeted Support. Her remit has included family support teams, youth justice, and edge-of-care services, where she has championed practice that is relational, strengths-based, and grounded in the realities of the communities she serves.
Martine is committed to values-based leadership. At the heart of Martine’s leadership is a simple but profound value: kindness. She believes that whether working with families or colleagues, relationships built on kindness create the conditions for growth, safety, and positive change. Her commitment to values-based practice continues to shape the culture and direction of the services she leads.
Sarah
Creative Consultant
Sarah is a qualified social worker with 14 years of experience supporting children, young people, and families across a range of frontline and targeted services. Her career has spanned across children in care, frontline practice, intensive family support and leadership roles shaping early help provision.

With 7 years of management experience — including 2.5 years as Service Manager for the Targeted Help service — Sarah has led multidisciplinary teams, strengthened practice standards, and championed approaches that place families’ strengths at the centre of intervention.
Her professional passion lies in early help and prevention. She is committed to supporting families at the earliest point of need, reducing escalation, and creating sustainable change through relational, compassionate, and trauma-informed practice. Sarah believes deeply in intervention-based social work that is grounded in empathy, respect, and a clear understanding of the lived experiences of the families she serves.
